The bus routes in the Merzig-Wadern district have been operated by the newly founded district-owned Verkehrsgesellschaft Merzig-Wadern mbH (VMW) since January 1, 2025. In less than two months, ATRON electronic GmbH integrated the new transport company as a client into the existing background system of the Saarländischen Verkehrsverbund (saarVV).
The particular challenge of the project lay in the short time available. In just a few weeks, VMW had to be fully integrated as a new client into the existing ATRON background system of saarVV, including timetable imports and connection of the real-time data supply. At the same time, the necessary technical adjustments were made for the installation of the 90 newly delivered ATRON vehicle computers of the AFR 5 series in the buses.
Both the installation of the devices and the user and driver training were completed on schedule in December 2024, meaning that the VMW was able to commence operations on time on January 1, 2025.
“We are very pleased to have successfully completed another project in Saarland. The rapid implementation was only possible thanks to the partnership and cooperation of everyone involved. We would like to thank them for this and look forward to continuing our collaboration,” said Michael Schmidt, Sales Consultant at ATRON, after the project was completed.
