Digital future in public transport: VWS Siegen launches hosting project with ATRON

Feldkirchen/Siegen, July 2025 - Verkehrsbetriebe Westfalen-Süd (VWS), together with ATRON electronic GmbH from Feldkirchen, have successfully implemented a forward-looking hosting project. In future, ATRON will provide professional support for central IT components.

The outsourcing of central IT components and services to ATRON's hosting infrastructure was successfully completed in July 2025. Services and applications for operational control and data management now run cloud-based via the new microservices-based ATRIES RX system. Experts from the ATRON Group ensure smooth functionality and a reliable connection to the new backend system.

The hosting takes place in a German data center and meets all data protection requirements in accordance with the GDPR. At the same time, the system guarantees a high level of reliability and enables a flexible connection to existing VWS systems.

With this project, VWS is sending a clear signal for digital transformation and underlining its role as an innovative mobility service provider in the Siegen-Wittgenstein region.

Jörg Mühlhaus, Managing Director of VWS, confirms the continued cooperation: "With ATRON, we have an experienced partner at our side who optimally implements our requirements for availability, security and scalability.
