ATRON successfully completes installation of an ITCS with 275 ticket printers at KVG Braunschweig
(Salzgitter / Markt Schwaben, April 2017) In total, ATRON electronic GmbH supplied KVG with 250 on-board computers type AFR 4 and 25 handheld terminals of the AMR 174 series. Furthermore, an ITCS was implemented with access to 4 operation locations.
“Satisfied customers are our ultimate goal. Therefore, we require smooth operation and customer-friendly sales. The new ATRON on-board computers support us in fulfilling these requirements because all relevant functions are combined in one single device.”, states Klaus Stuhlmann, authorised officer, head of groups, competition and traffic and project leader for the procurement and introduction of the ITCS at KVG.
Besides having access to all RBL functions and quick ticket issuing, the next stop announcements and the control of the destination and next stop displays can also be performed directly via the on-board computers. Apart from using them in vehicles, the AFR 4s are also used as ticket printers in the ticket offices and as terminals for driver sale in all KVG locations.
The three KVG locations Bad Harzburg, Helmstedt and Wolfenbüttel were equipped with small, local service stations with access to ITCS by ATRON. The newly established KVG-“operations control centre”, which is staffed nearly all around the clock, in SZ-Lebenstedt was equipped with two ITCS work stations. “We now have reliable access to our entire traffic area and the traffic conditions of all 63 lines at all times from SZ-Lebenstedt. The concentration of all communication between vehicles and the centre on one location makes compact traffic guidance possible”, explains Klaus Stuhlmann.
Passengers now receive information on the operating situation in real time thanks to a direct connection to the data hub via two new channels: on an interactive stop map on the KVG website or via scanning the QR codes on the timetables with the smartphone. Furthermore, 14 dynamic passenger information displays at important KVG traffic junctions are linked to the system. Further locations are planned. The activation and control of the TFT monitors in the buses which display the route and connections to other lines are planned in another project.
The newly implemented ATRON background system ATRIES serves as key component for this purpose. All relevant data are organised at only one location. Master data such as fares, entrepreneurs and drivers are managed in the integrated master data administration system. Timetable import is performed via a VDV interface.
